Uzbekistan -Mongolia 65:67
Mongolia grabbed valuable win over Uzbekistan in the most interesting game of Day 2 at the Asian Games in Group E. Mongolia celebrated 67:65 thriller to tie their record at 1-1. Uzbekistan meanwhile dropped to 0-2 in the standings.
Mongolia started with 18-15 lead after the opening period and nailed another 18 points in the second frame. At that time Uzbekistan managed to provide 13 points and trailed 8 points at the halftime. In the third quarter Mongolia again notched 18 points, while they allowed the opponents to post 14. The last frame however belonged to Uzbekistan that produced 23-13 in it. It was not however enough to celebrate the victory.
Munkhbold Bataa (191-F-86) paced all the winners with 17 points and Ikhbayar Ganbaatar (180-G-83) followed him with 13. Badrakh Munkhbayar (179-F-84) notched 11, whilst Sedbazar Shinen (191-F-81) added 9. Vyacheslav Denisov (190-F-83) responded with 17 points in the losing effort. Artur Sharafutdinov (200-F-90) and Gennadiy Zinovev (195-F-84) brought 15 each, while Samender Juginisov (202-F-87) scored 11.
In Day 3 Mongolia will face Jordan that lost to South Korea. South Korea reached their second straight win at the Asian Games in China. The team improved to 2-0 record in Group E after the win over Jordan 95:49 at the Guangzhou Int'l Sport Arena. Uzbekistan will take on China on November 19th.
