Ersan Ilyasova celebrates in Spanish ACB - Jun 19, 2009

Ersan Ilyasova (207-F-87) managed to grab the first ACB title in his career. After defeat in the Play-Off Finals last season, Regal Barca managed to beat Tau Ceramica this year with 3-1 taking from Tau the most important Spanish trophy. Ersan Ilyasova had important role in his team during the entire series. In Game One he helped with 8 points, in Game Two Ilyasova had 5 points and 6 rebounds, while in Game Three he exploded with impressive 19 points and 9 boards. He spent 23 minutes on the floor in Game Four, but was not able to score. Ersan Ilyasova appeared 41 times this season in ACB in total averaging 9.7 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Regal Barca was No.2 in regular season registering 26 wins and 6 defeats.

Game 4 - Regal Barca - Tau 90-77
Regal Barca is the new ACB Champion! The team of Xavier Pascual managed to beat Tau Ceramica in Game 4 90-77 ending the Final series with 3-1. The hosts had couple of players on fire last night. The top-scorer was Juan Carlos Navarro (192-G-80), who drained 19 points, making 5 of 8 attempts from behind the arc. Navarro also handed out 9 assists beside that. David Andersen (212-C-80) and Fran Vazquez (210-C-83) followed him with 18 points each, while hero from Game 1 Gianluca Basile (192-G-75) helped with 17 pts. All other players had less than 10. In the loosing squad, Igor Rakocevic (191-G-78) came up with 20 points and 5 assists. Tiago Splitter (211-C/F-85, agency: Interperformances) had 15 pts and 8 rebounds, while Pablo Prigioni (191-G-77) contributed with 13 pts and 6 boards.
Regal Barca took control on its opponent from the early beginning. After 10 minutes of the game it was 27-18 for the new Spanish Champion. Tau improved later, but despite that fact Barca managed to win all 3 quarters until the end. The second one finished 16-15, third 28-27 and the last one 19-17. Tau registered 27 rebounds, while Barca had 24 last night. Both teams were pretty successful from behind the arc, but Tau struggled for FG2 making just 14 of 31. Former champion also had not so good 13 of 21 from the FT line.

Game 3 - Regal Barca - Tau 85-67
Regal Barca made a huge step forward to ACB title. After win and defeat in Vitoria, the team from Barcelona managed to beat the defending champion Tau Ceramica at the Palau Blaurgana 85-67 taking 2-1 lead in the Finals. Hero from Game 1 Gianluca Basile (192-G-75) and Ersan Ilyasova top-scored for Barca tonight with 19 points each. Ilyasova grabbed 9 rebounds beside that. It is important to mention that Basile made 5 of 7 attempts from behind the arc. Juan Carlos Navarro (192-G-80) and David Andersen (212-C-80) helped with 10 points each. Pablo Prigioni (191-G-77) answered with 12 pts in loss. Sergi Vidal (198-F/G-81) had 11, while Igor Rakocevic (191-G-78) stopped on 10 pts. Game 4 is scheduled for Thursday.

Game 2 - Tau - Regal Barca 75-67
The defending champion managed to grab the first win in ACB Finals tying the score to 1-1. This time the hosts demonstrated much better performance than it was in Game 1. Serbian scoring machine Igor Rakocevic (191-G-78) led all the scorers with 22 points. Pete Mickeal (198-F-78, college: Cincinnati) followed him with 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Pablo Prigioni (191-G-77) added 16 pts. In Barca, Juan Carlos Navarro (192-G-80) drained 21 pts. Game 3 will be played at the Palau Blaugrana on June 16.

Game 1 - Tau - Regal Barca 80-82
The first game of big ACB Finals belongs to Regal Barca. The defending and at the same time the regular season champion, Tau Ceramica, suffered 80-82 defeat loosing the home court advantage in the series. It was very exciting game, decided at the buzzer. Namely Tau had 80-79 lead, but Barca had possession with 15 seconds remaining. David Andersen (212-C-80) missed a triple with 7 seconds to go, but Barca grabbed an offensive rebound after what Gianluca Basile (192-G-75) pulled up and scored a 8-meter triple with 2 seconds left. The hosts were not able to make it after time-out so Barca grabbed thriller road win in Game 1. Big guy David Andersen was a key player in the wining squad last night. He spent 30 minutes on the court nailing 21 points without any missed shot for FG2 and from the line as well. Jaka Lakovic (186-G-78) had 13, while Fran Vazquez (210-C-83) delivered one points less. Juan Carlos Navarro (192-G-80) this time helped with 11 points and 8 assists. In Tau, Igor Rakocevic (191-G-78) netted 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Tiago Splitter (211-C/F-85, agency: Interperformances) contributed with double-double, 18 pts and 10 rebs. Game 2 is scheduled for June 13 in Vitoria. As a reminder, the series is best-of-five.


Sergey Karaulov agreed terms with Vostok-65 - 22 days ago
SERGEY KARAULOV Vostok-65 (Superleague 1) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 37-year old naturalized Uzbekistani center Sergey Karaulov (214-115kg-82). He has played for the last four years at TEMP-SUMZ-UMMC. In 39 Superleague 1 games he recorded 5.8ppg and 4.1rpg last season. Karaulov helped them to make it to the semifinals. Uzbekistan U16 posts two victories, not enough to qualify - 1 month ago
Uzbekistan U16 postsedtwo victories at the Asian Championship qualifiers in Taraz. They beat Kyrgyzstan 84-56 in the opener and overcame Turkmenistan U16 84-64 in Day 2. Kazakhstan U16 however advances to Asian Championships as they won the tournament of four teams. Kazakhstan U16 posted three victories including the final one against Uzbekistan U16 82-49. Uzbekistan finishes 4th at the International tournament - 1 Year ago
Uzbekistan finishes 4th at the International tournament in Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan edged Uzbekistan 87-43. Victor Verzun stepped up with 19 points and Daniar Tayekelov posted 18. Danil Miturev replied with 14 points and 17 rebounds in a loss. Uzbekistan lost also to Kyrgyzstan 42-47 and to SHOR 39-81. Uzbekistan however beat Spartak 70-56 and Yeti 55-48.   [read more]
