BTL Round 8 of Regular Season

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game of round 8 was a home defeat of 8th ranked Air Force (2-6) to seventh ranked Pythons (3-5) 93-89 in the game for the seventh place. Pythons made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Pongsakorn Jaimsawad (179-2000) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and forward Mohammed Diaby (196) who added 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Pythons' coach Sittipong Prempraphan used entire bench in such tough game. American forward Donald Vaughn (195-1990, college: VWU) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Pythons maintains seventh position with 3-5 record. Air Force lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with six games lost. Pythons are looking forward to face higher ranked Crypto Cobra (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Air Force's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bangkok to the arena Warriors.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Bangkok: Hitech (#1) and TGE (#4). TGE was smashed at home by 16 points 63-79 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of TGE. The winners were led by international center Emmanuel Ejesu (203-2004) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Frederick Lish supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Bobby Arthur-Williams (201-1997, college: Pitt St., agency: Starting 5) did not help to save the game for TGE. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Hitech (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row, which they share with Shoot it Dragons. TGE at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Crypto Cobra. Hitech will play against league's second-placed Shoot it Dragons in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. TGE will play against Th.Gorillas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Gorillas (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Crypto Cobra (5-3) 120-58 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Shaheed Davis who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Daisone Hughes produced 28 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Crypto Cobra maintains third position with 5-3 record having just three points less than leader Hitech, which they share with TGE. Loser Gorillas still closes the standings with eight games lost. Crypto Cobra will meet Pythons (#7) in the next round. Th.Gorillas will play against TGE in Bangkok and hope to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 8 Banvas won against Warriors on the opponent's court 113-97. Shoot it Dragons managed to outperform White Lions in a home game 82-70.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 14 points and 17 rebounds by Eric Freeman of Shoot it Dragons.



Crypto Cobra - Th.Gorillas 120-58

Bottom-ranked Gorillas (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Crypto Cobra (5-3) 120-58 on Sunday evening. Crypto Cobra dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Gorillas' 32. Crypto Cobra outrebounded Th.Gorillas 56-33 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Crypto Cobra looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Th.Gorillas' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Crypto Cobra made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Shaheed Davis (206-1994, college: UCF) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 9 assists. British center Morakinyo Williams (209-1988, college: Citadel) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Crypto Cobra players scored in double figures. American guard Daisone Hughes (189-2000, college: WOU) produced 28 points and 9 rebounds and center Jirat Ritsri (196-2001) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Warriors - Banvas 97-113

Very expected game in Bangkok where 9th ranked Warriors (1-7) were defeated by fifth ranked Banvas (4-4) 113-97 on Sunday. Banvas dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Warriors' 56. Banvas looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Warriors' players. The best player for the winners was Canadian-Jamaican swingman Kareem Jackson (195-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 26 rebounds and 9 assists. American guard Marcus Hammond (191-2000, college: Notre Dame) chipped in 28 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Banvas players scored in double figures. American forward Dequandre Dentmond (203-1995, college: Dillard) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 31 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import guard Javan Smith (188-1996, college: Palm Beach) added 42 points (!!!) and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Warriors' coach Songtum Thongraar rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Banvas maintains fifth position with 4-4 record, which they share with White Lions. Warriors lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with seven games lost. Banvas will meet at home White Lions (#6) in the next round. Warriors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bangkok Air Force.

Rather predictable result when top-ranked Shoot it Dragons (8-0) defeated at home 6th ranked White Lions (4-4) 82-70 on Sunday. Shoot it Dragons outrebounded White Lions 51-37 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Accheaus Fields (187-1997, college: Averett) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import Eric Freeman (201-1997, college: Brunswick) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds. Shoot it Dragons' coach Boonchai Rittiphanyawong let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international forward Afnan Charansarn (186-1997) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Gambian-Belgian Omar Thielemans (203-1999, college: GSU) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shoot it Dragons have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hitech. Loser White Lions dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Banvas. Shoot it Dragons will meet at home league's leader Hitech in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. White Lions will play against Banvas (#5) in Bangkok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
