TBL Round 4: Leader SWU loses to Wave

Coincidentally all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated SWU (3-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Wave (4-0) 103-98. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of SWU. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Wave dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to SWU's 46. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. British center Morakinyo Williams (209-1988, college: Citadel) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Filipino point guard James Martinez (170-1987) chipped in 20 points and 14 assists. Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-1996, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Wave have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tigers. SWU at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Devil Rays. Wave is looking forward to face league's leader Tigers in Bangkok in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SWU will play on the road against T-REX in Nakhon Ratchasima and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was between sixth ranked T-REX and 7th ranked Thunders where T-REX (2-2) crushed Thunders (1-3) on the road with 22-point difference 119-97. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Avery Scharer (185-1986, college: Shoreline CC) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 15 assists and 5 steals. Jeff Dumelod Viernes contributed with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Polish Robert Kowalczyk (202-1995) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 25 rebounds and 4 assists for Thunders. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. T-REX moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pythons. Thunders lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Mammoth. T-REX will play against higher ranked SWU (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Thunders will play against the league's leader Tigers in Bangkok to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in between Tigers and Pythons. Top-ranked Tigers (4-0) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Pythons (2-2). Tigers managed to escape with a 2-point win 79-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pythons. Worth to mention a great performance of Gabriel Yeumo who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. At the losing side Sarion McGee responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Tigers have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Wave. Newly promoted Pythons keep the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with T-REX. Tigers will meet at home Thunders (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pythons will play against Devil Rays and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 4 Devil Rays defeated Eagles in a road game 106-100.



Eagles - Devil Rays 100-106

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Eagles (0-4) were defeated at home by fourth ranked Devil Rays (3-1) 106-100 on Sunday. Devil Rays looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Toby Sathitsumpan (182-2001) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and American guard Jose Nouchanthavong (187, college: S.Maine) who added 25 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Nouchanthavong is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side Filipino guard Patrick Cabahug (186) responded with 42 points (!!!) and Patrick Tchuente produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with SWU. Newly promoted Eagles still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Kings. Devil Rays will meet at home Pythons (#5) in the next round. Eagles will play against Kings (#10) and hope to get finally their first victory.

Tigers managed to escape with a 2-point win 79-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pythons. Worth to mention a great performance of Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-1988) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and Nattapat Biasumrit who added 13 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Five Tigers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Sarion McGee (203, college: John A.Logan) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Brian Garrett (193, college: CS Monterey) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Tigers have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Wave. Newly promoted Pythons keep the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with T-REX. Tigers will meet at home Thunders (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
