TBL Round 6: No surprise as #1 Bangkok Tigers defeat Mad Goat- July 7, 2022

Bangkok Tigers - Mad Goat 82-71 TBL top team - Bangkok Tigers (5-1) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat eighth ranked Mad Goat (1-5) 82-71. Bangkok Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Jose Nouchanthavong (187, college: S.Maine) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-1988) chipped in 17 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Nouchanthavong is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Polish Robert Kowalczyk (202-1995) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Yin-Hsuan Lin scored 14 points and 4 assists. Four Mad Goat players scored in double figures. Bangkok Tigers have a solid four-game winning streak. Despite that victory Bangkok Tigers went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with Hitech. Mad Goat at the other side keeps the eighth place with five games lost. Bangkok Tigers is looking forward to face higher ranked Dunkin' Raptors in the next round. Mad Goat will play against TGE (#4) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident. Hitech dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to T-REX's 28. Hitech forced 30 T-REX turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Nakorn Jaisanuk (188-1991) who scored 32 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Nattakarn Muangboon (180-1991) chipped in 22 points and 8 assists. Four Hitech players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Alex Smith (201-1988, college: BCU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and forward Kulthawat Piyalangka added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Bangkok Tigers. Loser T-REX still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Shoot it Dragon. Both fifth ranked TGE and one of their biggest challengers Dunkin' Raptors had identical 3-2 record. This time TGE used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 87-79 on Wednesday night. TGE dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Dunkin' Raptors' 28. TGE forced 30 Dunkin' Raptors turnovers and outrebounded them 64-40 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jarron Crump (183-1992, college: Pacific Union) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-1996, college: Montana St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Dunkin' Raptors will have a break next round. SWU - Thunders 92-54 There was a small surprise when seventh ranked SWU (3-3) smashed at home 5th ranked Thunders (3-3) 92-54 on Wednesday. SWU forced 21 Thunders turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Zimbabwean center John Kabwe (195-1984) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Pongsatorn Tabtim (187-1998) chipped in 19 points. Four SWU players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Chiedoziem Okafor who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and Kittitep Lane Dasom added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SWU moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Dunkin' Raptors and Thunders. SWU will meet at home higher ranked Hitech (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Thunders will play against the league's leader Devil Rays and hope to secure a win. This time they crushed ninth ranked Shoot it Dragon (0-6) 116-90. Devil Rays dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Shoot it Dragon's 32. Devil Rays forced 29 Shoot it Dragon turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Shoot it Dragon's players. American point guard Taishaun Johnson (183-1994, college: PVAMU) notched 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals to lead the effort and international Moses Morgan (198-1992, college: CS Fullerton) supported him with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Devil Rays players scored in double figures. Devil Rays' coach S. Premprapan felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 51 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds by the former international point guard Frederick Jones-Goldstein (178-1988, college: USA) did not help to save the game for Shoot it Dragon. Swingman Panthawat Techasamran added 7 points and 6 rebounds. Devil Rays have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Devil Rays maintains first position with 6-0 record. Shoot it Dragon at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with T-REX. Devil Rays will play against Thunders (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Shoot it Dragon will play against T-REX and hopes to get finally their first victory.
