SBL Round 10 (Regular Season): Bank of Taiwan lose to Yulon Luxgen

Top ranked Bank of Taiwan (17-6) recorded its sixth loss against second ranked Yulon Luxgen on Friday night. Yulon Luxgen were defeated by Yulon Luxgen 65-57. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bank of Taiwan. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Yulon Luxgen forced 21 Bank of Taiwan turnovers. American Brandon Moss (204-1994, college: LSUA) fired 24 points, 29 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. International center Shao-Fu Lan (195-1997) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward James Padgett (203-1991, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yulon Luxgen (15-7) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position having just three points less than leader Bank of Taiwan. Bank of Taiwan at the other side still keeps top place with six games lost. Yulon Luxgen are again looking forward to face league's leader Bank of Taiwan in Taipei in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Third-ranked Keelung BK (11-11) made lots of trouble for first ranked Bank of Taiwan (17-6). Bank of Taiwan managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward James Padgett (203-1991, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. Wei-Cheng Wang contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Bank of Taiwan's coach En-Chieh Cheng allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American center Wendell Lewis (204-1989, college: Alabama St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds for Keelung BK. Bank of Taiwan maintains first position with 17-6 record. Keelung BK at the other side keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Bank of Taiwan will play against league's second-placed Yulon Luxgen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Keelung BK will play against Changhua and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Keelung BK managed to escape with a 2-point win 70-68 in the fight for the third place. Wendell Lewis had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Gerard Tarin responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Taiwan Beer's coach Meng-Chu Liu tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Keelung BK maintains third position with 11-11 record having seven points less than leader Bank of Taiwan. Loser Taiwan Beer keeps the fourth place with 14 games lost. Keelung BK will meet bottom-ranked Changhua (#5) on the road in the next round. Taiwan Beer will play against Changhua and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American forward Gerard Tarin (205-1996, college: Nova SE) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Chieh-Min Lu (184-1995) chipped in 12 points during the contest. Tarin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Taiwan Beer's coach Meng-Chu Liu used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game.
