T1 League Round 20 (Regular Season): N.Taipei CTBC defeats Tainan in the closest game of the week

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in T1 League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Fifth-ranked GhostHawks (7-20) gave a tough game to second ranked N.Taipei CTBC (18-9) in Tainan on Saturday. N.Taipei CTBC managed to secure only three-point victory 91-88. However their fans expected easier game. N.Taipei CTBC dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to GhostHawks's 26. N.Taipei CTBC forced 27 Tainan turnovers. Strangely Tainan outrebounded N.Taipei CTBC 48-27 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. N.Taipei CTBC looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian Edgaras Zelionis (207-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and American guard Cody Demps (193-1993, college: Sacramento St.) who added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Lithuanian center Egidijus Mockevicius (208-1992, college: Evansville) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds. GhostHawks' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. N.Taipei CTBC have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Tainan lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 20 games lost. N.Taipei CTBC are looking forward to face Kaohsiung A. (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tainan will play against Taipei TM and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a loss of second ranked Leopards (17-10) against fourth ranked Taipei TM (10-16) on Sunday night. Leopards were defeated by Taipei TM 91-79. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Leopards. The winners were led by guard Sheng-Ju Ting (174-1998, college: St.Francis, IL) who scored that evening 26 points and 6 assists and Vladyslav Koreniuk supported him with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists by American power forward DeMarcus Cousins (211-1990, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Taiwan Beer L.. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Taipei TM maintains fourth position with 10-16 record. Taiwan Beer L. at the other side keeps the second place with ten games lost. Taipei TM will play against bottom-ranked Tainan (#5) at home in the next round. Taiwan Beer L. will play against Kaohsiung A. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a great shooting night for Taiwan Beer L. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was American center Devin Williams (206-1994, college: WVU) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 24 rebounds. The other American import power forward DeMarcus Cousins (211-1990, college: Kentucky) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds. Senegalese center Youssou Ndoye (213-1991, college: St.Bonaventure) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds and American forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (199-1991, college: Temple) added 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Taiwan Beer L.. The best player for the winners was American point guard Shannon Scott (191-1992, college: Ohio St., agency: Slash Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Lithuanian center Mindaugas Kupsas (216-1991, agency: BIG) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Aquas players scored in double figures. Lithuanian center Egidijus Mockevicius (208-1992, college: Evansville) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and Croatian Domagoj Vukovic (208-1993) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Kaohsiung A.. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kaohsiung A. maintains third position with 15-12 record having just three points less than leader N.Taipei CTBC.
