SBL Round 7: Taiwan Beer lose to Bank of Taiwan

SBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 7 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Top ranked Taiwan Beer (15-2) recorded its second loss against second ranked Bank of Taiwan on Friday night. Bank of Taiwan were defeated by second ranked Bank of Taiwan (11-5) 80-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Taiwan Beer. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Bank of Taiwan forced 25 Taiwan Beer turnovers. American swingman Zak Irvin (198-1994, college: Michigan) fired 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. His fellow American import power forward Ishmael Lane (203-1997, college: NSU) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bank of Taiwan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-5 record having five points less than leader Taiwan Beer. Taiwan Beer at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Bank of Taiwan are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Pauian (#5) in the next round. Taiwan Beer will play again against the league's second-placed Bank of Taiwan (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was between third ranked Jeoutai and 4th placed Yulon Luxgen where Jeoutai (7-9) beat Yulon Luxgen (6-10) on the road with 18-point difference 90-72. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Jalen Robinson (206-1993, college: Dalton St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds. Nicholas Wiggins contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. American power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds for Yulon Luxgen. Jeoutai maintains third place with 7-9 record having nine points less than leader Taiwan Beer. Yulon Luxgen at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. Jeoutai will play against league's leader Taiwan Beer in Taipei in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yulon Luxgen will play again against Jeoutai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

At the losing side Zak Irvin responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Bank of Taiwan's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Yulon Luxgen maintains fourth place with 6-10 record. Loser Bank of Taiwan keeps the second position with five games lost. Yulon Luxgen will meet higher ranked Jeoutai (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bank of Taiwan will play against the league's leader Taiwan Beer and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Pauian (1-14) was defeated by first ranked Taiwan Beer (15-2) 72-56 on Saturday. Taiwan Beer dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pauian's 34. They outrebounded Pauian 51-28 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Canadian power forward Keanau Post (210-1992, college: Missouri) helped adding 12 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward C.J. Aiken (206-1990, college: St.Joseph's) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and forward Jou-Chen Huang (192-1997) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Taiwan Beer maintains first place with 15-2 record. Pauian lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Taiwan Beer will meet league's second-placed Bank of Taiwan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taiwan Beer dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Yulon Luxgen's 32. They outrebounded Yulon Luxgen 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Canadian power forward Keanau Post (210-1992, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) helped adding 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists.
