Al Nawair Hama (SBL) bolstered their team by signing 35-year-old American forward Tony Criswell (205cm-109kg-1991, college: Missouri) for the 2026-27 season. Criswell, who played for Al Bataeh in the UAE ULB league last season, brings experience and skill to the team.
During the summer of 2025, he split his time between Antranik Beirut (DLBL) and Homentmen Beirut (LBL) in the Lebanese league.
Criswell, an experienced player, has played professionally in thirteen different countries across four continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America). He has competed in Argentina, Brazil (Brasilia), Dominican Republic (Mauricio Baez, Marineros, Soles, Parque Hostos, and Leones), Germany, Japan (Albirex), Lebanon, Mexico (Correcaminos, Panteras, and Caballeros de Culiacan), Qatar (Al Khor), Switzerland (Lugano), Uruguay (Tabare), Venezuela (Cocodrilos), NBA G League (Westchester Knicks), and The Basketball Tournament (Show Me Squad). In 2026, Criswell played in the final of the Dubai International Tournament.
In 2025, he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention among many awards.
He played in the Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered the top summer league for players looking to play basketball overseas.
Criswell graduated from the University of Missouri in 2014 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season as a professional player. He played for other colleges like Independence Community College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
