Division I Round 19: Al Jalaa lose to Al Karameh in the game between Top 4 teams- April 4, 2021

Al Jalaa - Al Karameh 61-66 The game between Top Four teams took place in Aleppo. 4th placed host Al Jalaa (11-6) lost to first ranked Al Karameh (16-1) 66-61. Al Karameh maintains first place with 16-1 record. Al Jalaa at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Al Wahda. Al Karameh are looking forward to face Al Nawaeer (#7) in Hama in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Jalaa will play on the road against Al Thawra in Damascus and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident. Al Ouroube - Al Nawaeer 74-118 11th ranked Al Ouroube (1-16) was outscored at home by seventh ranked Al Nawaeer (7-10) with the biggest margin this round 118-74. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Nawaeer. Newly promoted Al Nawaeer maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Al Ouroube lost their fourth game in a row. Al Ouroube at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Al Nawaeer's next round opponent will be league's leader Al Karameh in Homs and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Ouroube will play at home against the league's second-placed Al Jaish (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory. Al Ittihad - Al Wahda 78-63 Rather expected game in Aleppo where 5th ranked Al Wahda (11-6) was defeated by third ranked Al Ittihad (14-3) 78-63. Al Ittihad maintains third place with 14-3 record having just two points less than leader Al Karameh. Al Wahda at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Al Ittihad's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Aleppo to the arena Al Yarmouk. Al Thawra - Al Hurriyeh 78-79 A very close game took place in Damascus between Al Hurriyeh and Al Thawra. Tenth ranked Al Hurriyeh (6-11) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Al Thawra (6-11). Al Hurriyeh managed to escape with a 1-point win 79-78 in the game for the eighth place. Al Hurriyeh moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Al Thawra and Al Wathba. Al Hurriyeh will meet higher ranked Al Talee'a in the next round. Al Thawra will play against Al Jalaa (#4) and hope to secure a win. Al Talee'a - Al Jaish 52-68 The game in Hama was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Al Jaish (15-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Al Talee'a (8-9). Al Jaish defeated Al Talee'a 68-52. Al Jaish have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-2 record behind leader Al Karameh. Al Talee'a at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Al Jaish will play against Al Ouroube (#11) in Aleppo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Talee'a will have a break next round. Al Yarmouk - Al Wathba 64-107 The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Al Wathba's (6-11) road victory over bottom-ranked Al Yarmouk (1-16) 107-64. Al Wathba moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Al Hurriyeh and Al Thawra. Al Yarmouk lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. Al Wathba's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Wahda (#5) in Damascus and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Yarmouk's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Aleppo Al Ittihad. |
