NBL Round 9 (Regular Season): Adroit lose their first game against SG Bball

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Adroit (6-1) against fourth ranked SG Bball on Friday night. SG Bball were defeated by SG Bball 78-68. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Adroit. SG Bball dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Adroit's 36. They outrebounded Adroit 51-38 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. SG Bball looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Colin Voss (201-1991, college: N.Texas, agency: Slash Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Jonathan Hai chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Zhong-Han Wong (183-1997) with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. SG Bball have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Siglap. Defending champion Adroit still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Hornets.
10th ranked Tungsan (1-7) was outscored by third ranked Siglap (5-3) with the biggest margin this round 86-66. The former international guard Xavier Ng Jun (188-2000) nailed 27 points for the winning side and Eshan Kaul accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds. Siglap's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Zhen Sim (-1998) came up with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Tungsan in the defeat. Siglap maintains third place with 5-3 record behind leader Adroit, which they share with SG Bball. Tungsan lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost.

In the last two games of round 9 Xin Hua lost to SBA 76-88. Tong Whye unfortunately lost to Xin Hua 70-82.



SBA - Xin Hua 88-76

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Xin Hua (3-5) was defeated by ninth ranked SBA (2-5) 88-76. Emil Putra nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Wei Long Wong accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cheng Shan Tan came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Jake Lim added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Xin Hua in the defeat. Four SBA and five Xin Hua players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SBA moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Tong Whye. Xin Hua at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost.

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Xin Hua (3-5) defeated 7th ranked Tong Whye (2-5) 82-70. Xin Hua players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Martin Lim nailed 26 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and Cheng Shan Tan accounted for 18 points and 11 rebounds. Xin Hua's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Yuhui Zhen (180-1998) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Yeong-Wooi Khaw (200-1990) added 6 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Tong Whye in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Xin Hua moved-up to seventh place. Tong Whye at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with SBA.
