NBL Round 22 (Regular Season): Adroit lose to Chong Ghee

Top ranked Adroit (19-2) recorded its second loss in Singapore on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Chong Ghee (15-6) 85-72. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Adroit. International guard Justen Chiam (177-2002) fired 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Christian Pepito chipped in 26 points. The former international forward Delvin Goh (201-1995) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Chong Ghee have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-6 record having four points less than leader Adroit. Defending champion Adroit still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Hornets. Chong Ghee are looking forward to face league's second-placed Hornets in Singapore in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adroit's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Singapore to the arena Xin Hua.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Singapore: Tagawa (#4) and Siglap (#8). Siglap was defeated at home 55-62 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of Reece Low who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds. Shi-Yu Ng contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Tagawa's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eshan Kaul replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds for Siglap. Tagawa maintains fourth position with 14-7 record. Siglap at the other side keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Tagawa will play against Police (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Siglap will play against SBA and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in . Local Tungsan (4-17) was outscored by fifth ranked Xin Hua (13-8) 119-62 on Thursday night. Zao Liang Chia had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Xin Hua's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Zhen Sim responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Xin Hua have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 13-8 record. Tungsan lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Police. Xin Hua's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Singapore Adroit.

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Nanyang (3-18) was crushed at home by seventh ranked SBA (10-11) 72-45 on Tuesday. SBA held Nanyang to an opponent 24.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.2 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Nanyang 63-36 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. International guard Zhi-Cai Tng (183-1998) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 24 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Jia Rong Koh chipped in 6 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Ying Lee responded with 15 points and Wenjie Cai scored 12 points. SBA maintains seventh position with 10-11 record. Nanyang lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 18 games lost. SBA will meet at home Siglap (#8) in the next round. Nanyang will play against SG Bball (#9) and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Hornets (19-2) defeated on the road 9th ranked SG Bball (6-15) 81-66 on Tuesday. Hornets dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to SG Bball's 40. Hornets forced 19 SG Bball turnovers. The former international guard Kelvin Lim (191-1996) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Malaysian center Russell Low-Wen (200-1993) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Hornets' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side point guard Bin Putra (180-2002) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Ron-The Kaiyuan produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Hornets and five SG Bball players scored in double figures. Hornets used an opportunity after Adroit lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser SG Bball keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. Hornets will meet at home Chong Ghee (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. SG Bball will play against Nanyang (#12) and hope to secure a win.

Tong Whye forced 19 Police turnovers and outrebounded them 55-35 including 21 on the offensive glass. The former international forward Lavin Raj V (201-2000) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Yeong-Wooi Khaw (200-1990) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Emgeeyar Gopal responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and Bayot Ferrera scored 14 points and 4 assists. Four Police players scored in double figures.
