The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Singapore: Siglap (#8) and Xin Hua (#6). Siglap (6-9) smashed visiting Xin Hua (8-7) by 25 points 78-53. The former international guard Gavin Tay (188-1999) contributed with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Yew Wong-Teng replied with 14 points for Xin Hua. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Siglap have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 6-9 record. Xin Hua lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Tong Whye. Siglap's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Singapore to the arena Tong Whye.

Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kyle Jeffers (207-1985, college: Oregon St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 23 rebounds and Gavin Tay who added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side international guard Justen Chiam (177-2002) responded with 32 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Siglap have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 6-9 record. Chong Ghee at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Tagawa. Siglap's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Singapore to the arena Tong Whye.
NBL top team - Hornets (15-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Tungsan (2-13) 95-58. The winners were led by Royston Goh-Yong who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. Hornets' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds by Tan Bryant did not help to save the game for Tungsan. Undefeated Hornets have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-0 record. Newly promoted Tungsan stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Police. Hornets' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Singapore Xin Hua.

Other games in round 16 were not that significant. Chong Ghee beat Police on the road 71-60. Tong Whye was destroyed by SG Bball on its own court 57-87. SBA unfortunately lost to Tagawa in Singapore 52-60. Adroit rolled over Police at home 91-61. Nanyang was crushed by Xin Hua on the opponent's court 75-52.
The most impressive performance of 16th round was 12 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by Terry Lua of Xin Hua.

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Chong Ghee (10-5) beat on the road 11th ranked Police (2-13) 71-60 on Thursday. Chong Ghee dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Police's 30. Chong Ghee forced 27 Police turnovers. The winners were led by international guard Justen Chiam (177-2002) who scored that evening 25 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Jay-Shay Lim (177-1997) supported him with 16 points. Chong Ghee's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 16 points and 4 assists by Bayot Ferrera did not help to save the game for Police. Emgeeyar Gopal added 6 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Chong Ghee maintains third position with 10-5 record having five points less than leader Hornets, which they share with Tagawa. Police lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Tungsan. Chong Ghee will meet at home Tong Whye (#6) in the next round. Police will have a break next round.

There was an upset when higher ranked Tong Whye (8-7) was smashed by ninth ranked SG Bball (5-10) in Singapore 87-57 on Sunday. SG Bball held Tong Whye to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.7 percent accuracy of the winners. SG Bball looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Tong Whye's players. The winners were led by Jonathan Hai who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds and Jun-Hao Lee supported him with 30 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds by international guard Benjamin Lim (184-1997) did not help to save the game for Tong Whye. International guard Yuhui Zhen (180-1998) added 16 points for lost side. Tong Whye's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Tagawa (10-5) won against 6th ranked SBA (7-8) in Singapore 60-52 on Sunday. Tagawa held SBA to an opponent 22.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Strangely SBA outrebounded Tagawa 49-37 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by international forward Shi-Yu Ng (197-2000) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and forward Yung-Juen Teo (191-2003) supported him with 15 points. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by Haran Prem did not help to save the game for SBA. International guard Zhi-Cai Tng (183-1998) added 6 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. SBA's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tagawa have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Chong Ghee. Loser SBA dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Tagawa will meet Nanyang (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SBA will have a break next round.
