Jonathan Gibson (ex Sagesse) joins Al-Ula

Al-Ula (SBL) agreed terms with experienced 37-year old American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188cm-84kg-1987, college: NM State). He was the top scorer at Sagesse in Lebanese LBL league last season where in 19 games he was league's fifth best scorer with impressive 21.2ppg and averaged 3.5rpg, 4.2apg and 1.5spg (in top 4). He helped them to make it to the Lebanese League final. A very impressive season as he was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Second Team. He also played 13 games in West Asia Super League where he had very remarkable stats: 22.0ppg, 3.8rpg, 4.2apg and 2.5spg. Gibson contributed to his team making it to the group semifinals. Quite impressive season as he was named to Asiabasket.com All-West Asia Super League Final 8 First Team.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Gibson is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in eight different countries. He tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. Gibson has played previously professionally in China (Ducks, Jiangsu Dragons, Eagles, Guangsha Lions and Anhui Wenyi), Iran (Petrochimi), Israel (Elitzur Ironi Ashkelon), Italy (Brindisi), Turkey (Trabzonspor and Oyak Renault), NBA (Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics) and NBA G League (College Park SkyHawks).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Al-Ula.
He graduated from New Mexico State University in 2010 and it will be his 15th (!!!) season as a professional player.
