Defending champion Al Ahli Jeddah (SBL) re-signed experienced 35-year old American ex-international 198cm forward Deandre Liggins (college: Kentucky) for new season. Liggins was a team leader there last season. In 22 SBL games he averaged impressive 18.2ppg, 8.2rpg, 6.5apg (top 5) and 2.1spg. He helped them to win the league title. Good season as he was voted League Player of the Week and selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Saudi Arabian SBL Second Team.
Liggins was voted to D-League All-Star Game back in 2014 and 2016.
The previous (2022) summer he played at Heartfire in U.S. semi-pro league The Basketball Tournament where in four games he had 5.5ppg and 3.8rpg in 2022 year.
In 2011 he was drafted by Orlando Magic (NBA) in second round (53rd overall). He graduated from University of Kentucky and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball. Liggins was a member of USA Senior National Team back in 2018.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in ten different countries playing on four different continents. Liggins is familiar with European, Asian, Latin American and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in Germany (Eisbaeren Bremerhaven), Greece (Panionios and Kolossos H Hotels Rodou), Mexico (Libertadores), Russia (Krasny Oktyabr), Spain (Fuenlabrada), Taiwan (Kings), United Kingdom (Lions), Uruguay (Penarol), NBA (New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets) and NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce). Liggins was selected to D-League All-Star Game back in 2014 and 2016.
