Al Ittihad Jeddah (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old Tunisian international 189cm point guard Omar Abada for season 2022-23. Abada is the second import player in the roster as Serbian Milko Bjelica signed here earlier.
It is actually his comeback to Jeddah as he has played here before. He played most recently at Al Wahda in Syrian SBL league. Abada helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. He also played for Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabian SBL where in 22 games he recorded very impressive stats: 23.8ppg, 4.8rpg, 7.0apg (top 4) and 2.0spg (in top 4) last season. A very spectacular year in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Saudi Arabian SBL 2nd Team, All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week.
Abada has been also a member of Tunisian international program for some years. He has regularly played for Tunisian senior team since 2012 and previously for U19 National Team in 2011.
Abada represented Tunisia at the Afrobasket Championship five years ago. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 6 games: 5.7ppg, 1.2rpg, 2.5apg, 1.3spg, FGP: 43.5%, 3PT: 16.7%, FT: 72.7%.
He has played previously professionally in France (Saint Chamond) and Tunisia (US Monastir and ES Rades). Abada won Tunisian League championship title in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021 and the cup in 2017, 2018 and 2021.
Among many awards he was selected AfroBasket.com All-Tunisian League Playmaker of the Year in 2020.
The scouts decsribe him following way: A promising point guard who attacks the basket ferociously and dishes out a number of key assists, putting lots of energy on the court.
