Bosnia and Herzegovina Markus Loncar (213-C-1996) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Al Taawoun and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 23.
The 27-year old center had a double-double of 23 points and 28 rebounds, while his team crushed Deba (#11, 3-19) with 19-point margin 101-82. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Al Taawoun maintains the 12th position in Saudi Arabian SBL. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Al Taawoun have already lost 21 games and recorded just one victory. In the team's last game Loncar had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Taawoun's top player in his first season with the team. Loncar has impressive league stats. He leads league in rebounds with 16.2rpg. Loncar is in league's top in and averages solid 1.6bpg and 74.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Al Taawoun's star - young American forward Corey Sanders (188-F-1997). Sanders impressed basketball fans with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course together with Loncar he helped Al Taawoun with another comfortable win 101-82 over slightly higher-ranked Deba (#11, 3-19) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Al Taawoun is still at the dead bottom 12th position. 21 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Al Taawoun managed to get this year. Sanders is a newcomer at Al Taawoun and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Latavious Williams (203-F/C-1989) of second-ranked Al Ittihad Jeddah. Williams scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). Despite Williams' great performance the Ittihad lost 80-81 to #3 ranked Al Ahli. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Ittihad had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 4th lost game is hopefully really an accident. Williams' teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Williams has a very solid season. In 21 games in Saudi Arabia he scored 11.7ppg. He also has 9.0rpg and a FGP of 68.0%.
