Best players of Saudi Arabian SBL round 17

Donte McGill

American Donte McGill (190-G-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for Al Wehda Mecca and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 28-year old guard had a double-double of 50 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Deba (#11, 0-15) with 19-point margin 102-83. Al Wehda is placed at 6th position in Saudi Arabian SBL. Al Wehda is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 9-8 record. In the team's last game McGill had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Al Wehda's top player in his first season with the team. Florida International University graduate has very impressive stats this year. McGill is league's best scorer averaging so far 33.8ppg. McGill is in league's top in and averages solid 61.8% FGP and 44.0% from behind 3-point line. Worth to mention McGill played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Josh Nicholas (190-G-1998) of Deba. Nicholas impressed basketball fans with 37 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Deba lost that game 84-123 to the higher-ranked Al Nassr (#2, 15-2). Deba is still in a red zone at 11th spot in the standings. 15 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Nicholas is a newcomer at Deba and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 30.0ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 6.3rpg and 4.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was Bosnia and Herzegovina Markus Loncar (213-C-1996) of Al Taawoun (#12). Loncar scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Despite Loncar's great performance the Al Taawoun lost 63-85 to the higher-ranked Ohod (#5, 10-6). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Al Taawoun can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 16 games. Loncar has individually a great season in Saudi Arabia. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 15.6rpg (#1 in league). He also has 1.5bpg and a FGP of 73.1%.
