Saudi Arabian SBL round 1 best performance: Gerard Tarin (by Hoops Agents)- September 20, 2022
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 23 rebounds, while his team beat Al-Taawon (#10, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 93-79. Thanks to this victory Al Ansar moved-up to the 2nd position in Saudi Arabian SBL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Al Ansar won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Tarin had a remarkable 70.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Ansar's top player in his first season with the team. Former Nova Southeastern University star has very solid stats this year. Tarin is in league's top in points (5th best: 33.0ppg) and averages impressive 70.6% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line. Worth to mention Tarin played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. The second best player in last round's games was young American Clinton Chapman (208-F/C-1989) of Al Hilal. Chapman had a very good evening with a double-double of 37 points and 17 rebounds. Of course Al Hilal cruised to a 85-73 relatively comfortable win over Al Adalh (0-1). His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Chapman is a newcomer at Al Hilal, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 37.0ppg (#1). He also registered 17.0 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was international guard Marzouq Almuwallad (180-PG-1992) of league's top team Al Ahly. Almuwallad showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and eight assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al Ahly, leading his team to a 102-77 easy win against Al Salam (#9, 0-1). Al Ahly has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Almuwallad also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Almuwallad as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Other top performing players last week: 4. Antonio Campbell (206-F-1994) of Al Nasr - 24 points and 21 rebounds 5. Devin Ebanks (206-F-1989) of Al Ahly - 34 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Mohamed Harat (198-F-1990) of Al Fateh - 29 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Vladyslav Koreniuk (210-C-1994) of Duba Club - 23 points, 18 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Andrey Semenov (200-F-1990) of Al Adalh - 33 points and 15 rebounds 9. Nick Stover (198-F-1993) of Al Salam - 33 points and 7 rebounds 10. Ibrahima Thomas (213-F-1987) of Ohod - 21 points and 16 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
