Ohod - Al Ansar 78-76 The most exciting game of round 6 in the SBL took place in Medina. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Al Ansar (3-3) to third ranked Ohod (5-1) 78-76 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Shane Rector (188-94, college: Utah St.) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Moroccan-Belgian center Khalid Boukichou (208-92) chipped in 17 points. Four Ohod players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Armenian center Todd OBrien (211-89, college: UAB) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Libyan point guard Mohameed Elsadi (190-95) added 22 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively. Ohod maintains third position with 5-1 record behind leader Al Hilal. Al Ansar at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Al Ahly and Al Wehda. Ohod are looking forward to face league's leader Al Hilal in Riyadh in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al Ansar will play at home against the league's leader Al Hilal (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Duba Club (0-6) 102-82 in Tabuk. Al Hilal well out of reach of Duba Club shooting 94.0 percent from the field. It was a good game for American guard Antwan Scott (185-92, college: Colorado St., agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 7 assists (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). International center Mohammed Alsuwailem (211-98) contributed with 25 points (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) for the winners. Four Al Hilal players scored in double figures. Abdullah Aljohani replied with 24 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and Canadian Otas Iyekekpolor (203-96, college: Fort Lewis) added 22 points in the effort for Duba Club. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Hilal (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row, which they share with Al Nasr. Newly promoted Duba Club still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Abha. Al Hilal will play against Ohod (#3) in Medina in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Duba Club will play on the road against Abha (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory. Both seventh ranked Al Wehda and 6th ranked Al Salam had identical 2-3 record. This time Al Wehda used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Al-Awamiyah 103-68 on Friday night. Al Wehda dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al Salam's 32. They outrebounded Al Salam 47-35 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Wehda looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Al Salam's players. The former international center Mohammed AlMarwani (206-89) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Egyptian guard Ramy Gunday (185-81) chipped in 15 points and 11 assists during the contest. Four Al Wehda players scored in double figures. Al Wehda's coach Said El Bouzidi felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: USA) with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 17 rebounds and Rashad Shouri scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Al Wehda (3-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Ahly and Al Ansar. Newly promoted Al Salam dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Fateh. Al Ittihad's coach Mohamed Kardani used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest.
