MBL Round 3: Johor Tigers lose to NS Matrix

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The biggest surprise of round 3 in MBL took place in where host NS Matrix (2-1) beat Johor Tigers (2-1) 88-81 on Monday evening. NS Matrix forced 19 Johor Tigers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Chun-Hong Ting (193-1996) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Tian-Yuan Kuek (201-1991) chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds. NS Matrix's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Tevin Glass (206-1994, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) who recorded a double-double by scoring 32 points and 18 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Johor Tigers will play next round against strong KL Aseel trying to make it back to the top of the standings. NS Matrix will try to continue on its current victory against Pegasus in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of KL Aseel (2-1) in Kuala Lumpur. Hosts were rolled over by Pegasus (2-1) 84-54. It was a good game for Thailand center Wutipong Dasom (195-1991) who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 5 rebounds. Ryan Smith contributed with 10 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international guard Wei-Long Tan (188-1993) answered with 7 points and 7 rebounds for KL Aseel. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pegasus will play against NS Matrix in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. KL Aseel will play against Johor Tigers in Johor Baharu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a great evening for Chun-Hong Ting who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Charles Garcia with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. NS Matrix will meet at home Pegasus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adroit will play against Penang SY (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.



Adroit - NS Matrix 87-94

The game in Singapore was also quite interesting. NS Matrix (2-1) played at the court of Adroit (0-3). NS Matrix managed to secure a 7-point victory 94-87 on Sunday. NS Matrix looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Adroit's players. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Chun-Hong Ting (193-1996) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Yi-Hou Wong (196-1996) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Costa Rican-Belizean Charles Garcia (204-1988, college: Seattle) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and American-Thailand Moses Morgan (198-1992, college: CS Fullerton) scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Five Adroit players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. NS Matrix will meet at home Pegasus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adroit will play against Penang SY (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
