WLBL Round 5 (Regular Season): Homentmen defeat Antranik in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An interesting game for Homentmen (5-0) which hosted in Antelias 4th placed Antranik (2-2). Leader Homentmen had an easy win 92-56. Homentmen made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Antranik turnovers. Homentmen looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Antranik's players. The former international guard Amar Mansour (175-2004, college: St.Joseph's) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Meghry Torossian contributed with 21 points for the winners. American center Jillian Hollingshead (196-2003, college: Tennessee) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for Antranik. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Homentmen have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-0 record behind leader Al Riyadi. Antranik at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost.
WLBL top team - Al Riyadi (6-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixth ranked Bkennaya (2-3) in Beirut 80-62. American-Angolan guard Italee Lucas (172-1989, college: UNC) stepped up and scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Chirine El Charif chipped in 23 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Ify Okoro responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Al Riyadi. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-0 record. Bkennaya at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with NSA.
Bottom-ranked Damour is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to sixth ranked Azour (3-2) 87-69 on Tuesday evening. American players dominated the game. LeLe Grissett nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Sonia Smith came up with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for Damour in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azour moved-up to third place. Damour lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost.

In the last game of round 5 Bkennaya was smashed by NSA on the road 95-55.

Bottom-ranked Damour is still unable to win any game. NSA - Bkennaya 95-55

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked NSA (2-3) crushed at home 6th ranked Bkennaya (2-3) 95-55 on Wednesday. NSA made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Bkennaya turnovers. NSA looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Bkennaya's players. Ukrainian center Olesia Malashenko (191-1991) nailed a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winning side and Siritta Faraj accounted for 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four NSA players scored in double figures. Senegalese Aminata Ly (193-2000, college: Fordham) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and Ify Okoro added 13 points respectively for Bkennaya in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. NSA moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Bkennaya.

WLBL top team - Al Riyadi (6-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixth ranked Bkennaya (2-3) in Beirut 80-62. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Bkennaya's 26 and made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Bkennaya 45-18 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Angolan guard Italee Lucas (172-1989, college: UNC) stepped up and scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and the former international center Chirine El Charif (184-1984) chipped in 23 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Ify Okoro responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and center Sandra Beddawi (168-1992, agency: BIG) scored 13 points. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Al Riyadi. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-0 record. Bkennaya at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with NSA.
