Sendai 89ers (B1 League) strengthened their roster with the addition of 28-year-old Lebanese international guard Sergio El Darwich (194cm-93kg-1996, college: Maine) for the 2025-26 season.


He has played for the last two years at Beirut Club in the Lebanese LBL league.

In 26 games recently, he recorded very impressive stats: 19.2ppg, 5.8rpg, 5.2apg, 2.2spg, and 1.0bpg last season. He also played for another Lebanese team, Beirut Club (LBL).


El Darwich represented Lebanon at the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers this year. During this event, he scored an average of 9.7 ppg and had 7 rpg.
He has played professionally in Tunisia and Lebanon (Sagesse and Maristes) as well.

In addition to these achievements, El Darwich's team reached the Dubai International Tournament Semifinals in 2024. He was named the Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Swingman of the Year in 2023.
He graduated from the University of Maine in 2020 and it'll be his sixth season as a pro player. El Darwich also played for Western Texas College for one year.
