There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in LBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

First defeat of league's leader Beirut Club against Hoops 76-74 was the most important game of the last round. Hoops dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Beirut Club's 30. They outrebounded Beirut Club 38-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. American guard Roosevelt Scott (193, college: Central Mo.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands forward Romani Hansen (203-1997, college: Albany) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Mohamad Haidar (203-1990, college: Michigan Tech) replied with 24 points and 7 rebounds for Beirut Club.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi and Homentmen. Homentmen was smashed at home by 59 points 56-115 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The former international guard Karim Zeinoun (188-1999) scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Bilal Tabbara chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. American guard Mark Lyons (185-1989, college: Arizona) responded with 18 points and 5 assists. Homentmen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win.
Very important is a home loss of Liders against Homentmen on Wednesday night. Host Liders were crushed by Homentmen in 88-65. Mark Lyons notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 10 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists by Christophe Khalil did not help to save the game for Liders.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Dynamo beat Liders on the road 88-70. Winless Champville lost to undefeated Sagesse on its own court 71-120. Hoops managed to outperform Champville in Beirut 94-80.




Homentmen - Al Riyadi 56-115

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi and Homentmen. Homentmen was smashed at home by 59 points 56-115 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Homentmen's 34. They outrebounded Homentmen 51-22 including a 37-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Homentmen's players. The former international guard Karim Zeinoun (188-1999) scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Bilal Tabbara (198-1993) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American guard Mark Lyons (185-1989, college: Arizona) responded with 18 points and 5 assists and Refaat Harb scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Homentmen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win.

Liders - Dynamo 70-88

No shocking result in a game when Dynamo beat on the road Liders 88-70 on Monday. They outrebounded Liders 49-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Dynamo looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dynamo made 7 blocks. The former international point guard Jad Khalil (186-1996) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the effort and the former international swingman Mark Alkhoury (196-1998) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Dynamo's coach Jad El Hajj used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by the former international swingman Christophe Khalil (192-1999) did not help to save the game for Liders. American Alex Peacock (199-1997, college: Texas St.) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Five Dynamo and four Liders players scored in double figures.

Champville - Sagesse 71-120

There was an upset when Champville was smashed by Sagesse in Dik El Mehdi 120-71 on Tuesday. Sagesse dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Champville's 34 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Sagesse forced 21 Champville turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American Kerwin Roach II (192-1996, college: Texas) notched 26 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and Rudy Moussa supported him with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 13 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists by the former international guard Jimmy Salem (190-1995) did not help to save the game for Champville. Forward Marc Abi-Kheres (197-1994) added 12 points for the hosts. Five Sagesse and four Champville players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Very important is a home loss of Liders against Homentmen on Wednesday night. Host Liders were crushed by Homentmen in 88-65. Homentmen dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Liders' 36. American guard Mark Lyons (185-1989, college: Arizona) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and the other American import Joshua Caldwell (203-1991, college: William Penn) supported him with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Caldwell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 10 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international swingman Christophe Khalil (192-1999) did not help to save the game for Liders. American Alex Peacock (199-1997, college: Texas St.) added 21 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Five Homentmen and four Liders players scored in double figures.

Strangely Champville outrebounded Hoops 41-26 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands forward Romani Hansen (203-1997, college: Albany) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and point guard Joseph Zaloum (180-1990) supported him with 21 points and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 17 rebounds by Ghassan Tacca did not help to save the game for Champville. The former international guard Jimmy Salem (190-1995) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
