LBL Round 11: Anibal record their first victory- January 10, 2022

Al Riyadi - Atlas 115-53 Fifth ranked Al Riyadi (6-2) crushed at home 8th ranked Atlas (2-7) by 62 points 115-53, which is the biggest margin this round. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Atlas' 30 and made 19-of-20 charity shots (95.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Atlas 51-32 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Atlas' players. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was a quality performance for the former international guard Amir Saoud (186-91) who led the winners and scored 44 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 8 assists. International swingman Mark Alkhoury (196-98) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Ahmad Sbeity (181) came up with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Mohamad Al Malla added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Atlas in the defeat. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Beirut Club. Atlas lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Al Riyadi will play against Champville (#7) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round. Atlas will play at home against the league's second-placed Sagesse and hope to get back on the winning track. They used home court advantage to defeat Byblos (1-9) 79-64 on Sunday. Anibal forced 22 Byblos turnovers. It was a great evening for Rami Abou Tanos who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Tarek Mitri helped adding 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Anibal players scored in double figures. Anibal's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Georges Souaid responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and forward William Sawan (201-98) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Anibal (1-8) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Homentmen. It was Byblos' sixth loss in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Anibal is looking forward to face Homentmen (#10) in Beirut in the next round. Byblos will have a break next round.
