Here is the weekly review of the top performing Lebanese players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international guard
Wael Arakji (194-94, currently plays in Qatar). He led
Al Shamal to a 1-point victory over the seventh-ranked Al Ahli (1-4)
86-85 in a derby game in the Qatari D1 in Saturday night's game.
Arakji was MVP of the game. He scored 39 points (!!!), grabbed 7 boards, passed 9 assists and added 5 steals in 40 minutes on the court.
Al Shamal Doha (4-1) is placed third in the D1.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Arakji has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 35.6ppg, 6.2rpg, 5.6apg, 2.4spg, 2FGP: 56.5%(48-85), 3FGP: 37.1% and FT: 75.4% in five games he played so far.
Arakji is currently a member of the Lebanese senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international point guard
Marvelle Harris (196-93, college:
Fresno St., currently plays in Japan). He was the major contributor in a
Kumamoto Volters' victory against the third-ranked Rizing (13-11) crushing them
96-76 in the Japanese B2 League last Saturday.
Harris recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and making 11 passes. He also added 4 rebounds.
Kumamoto Volters (11-11) are placed fifth in West group.
This season Harris has very high stats. He averages: 16.8ppg, 6.3rpg, 4.0apg, 2.3spg, 2FGP: 55.8%(53-95), 3FGP: 34.0% and FT: 73.6%.
Harris is a naturalized American.
He played for the Lebanese national team in 2019.
Harris used to play for Louaize Zouk in Lebanese league.
#3. The Lebanese player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international center
Ater Majok (208-87, college:
UConn, currently plays in Qatar). He led
Al Arabi to a victory against one of league's weakest teams Al Khor (1-4)
74-68 in the Qatari D1 on Sunday night.
Majok had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 20 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 7 blocks in 40 minutes.
Al Arabi Club Doha (5-1) is placed second in the D1.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Majok has very impressive stats this year: 17.8ppg, 15.2rpg, 3.0apg, 4.0bpg, 2FGP: 58.5%(31-53), 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 73.2% in six games.
He has a dual citizenship: South Sudanese and Lebanese.
Ex-Homenetmen Beirut player is also a member of the Lebanese senior national team.
#4. Point guard
Jad Khalil (186-96, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to an overtime
Kolubara's victory against the 13th-ranked Vrsac (3-7)
99-96 in the Serbian KLS in Sunday night's game.
Khalil scored 12 points and added 3 passes.
KK Kolubara Lazarevac 2003 (7-6) is placed seventh in the KLS.
It's Khalil's first season with the team.
His overall stats this year are: 6.7ppg, 1.7rpg and 2.1apg.
Khalil used to play for the Lebanese national team
last year.
