Here is the weekly review of the top performing Lebanese players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international guard
Wael Arakji (194-94, currently plays in Qatar). He could not help
Al Shamal (2-1) in their last game. Despite Arakji's very good performance Al Shamal lost
75-79 in a derby game to the higher-ranked (#3) Al Sadd.
He was the top scorer with 33 points. Arakji also added 5 boards, passed 3 assists and added 3 steals in 40 minutes on the court.
Arakji has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 36.3ppg, 6.0rpg, 4.7apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 53.1%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 78.6% in three games he played so far.
Arakji is currently a member of the Lebanese senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international point guard
Marvelle Harris (196-93, college:
Fresno St., currently plays in Japan). He led
Kumamoto Volters to a victory over the sixth-ranked Kagawa FA (9-13)
95-87 in the Japanese B2 League last Wednesday.
Harris was MVP of the game. He scored 22 points, grabbed 5 boards, dished 6 assists and stole 6 balls.
Kumamoto Volters (10-10) are placed fourth in West group.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
It's Harris' first year with the team.
This season Harris has very high stats. He averages: 17.2ppg, 6.7rpg, 3.5apg, 2.6spg, 2FGP: 54.9%, 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 79.4%.
Harris is a naturalized American.
He played for the Lebanese national team in 2019.
Harris used to play for Louaize Zouk in Lebanese league.
#3. The Lebanese player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international center
Ater Majok (208-87, college:
UConn, currently plays in Qatar). He contributed to an
Al Arabi's victory against the closely-ranked Al Wakrah (2-1)
89-82 in the Qatari D1 on Sunday night.
Majok had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 20 rebounds. He also added 6 assists and 2 blocks in 40 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Al Arabi Club Doha (3-1) is placed second in the D1.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Majok has very impressive stats this year: 18.3ppg, 14.3rpg, 3.8apg, 3.3bpg, 2FGP: 56.1%(23-41), 3FGP: 44.4% and FT: 75.0% in four games.
He has a dual citizenship: South Sudanese and Lebanese.
Ex-Homenetmen Beirut player is also a member of the Lebanese senior national team.
#4. Point guard
Jad Khalil (186-96, currently plays in Serbia) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams
Kolubara in their game against Dynamic VP (6-5) in the Serbian KLS. Khalil's contribution was not very remarkable in Wednesday's game.
He scored only 3 points and added 3 passes.
Kolubara was defeated
82-74 at home by the higher-ranked Dynamic VP (#7).
It's Khalil's first season with the team.
Khalil's overall stats this year are: 6.3ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.0apg.
He used to play for the Lebanese national team
last year.
