Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Lebaneses who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international guard
Wael Arakji (194-94, currently plays in Qatar). He led
Al Shamal to a victory over the closely-ranked Al Khor (0-2)
102-85 in the Qatari D1 in Tuesday night's game.
Arakji was MVP of the game. He scored 46 points (!!!), grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 39 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Al Shamal this season.
His team is placed fourth in the D1.
It's Arakji's first year with the team.
Arakji is currently a member of the Lebanese senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international point guard
Marvelle Harris (196-93, college:
Fresno St., currently plays in Japan). He was the main contributor in a
Kumamoto Volters' victory against the seventh-ranked Kagawa FA (7-13)
95-87 in the Japanese B2 League last Wednesday.
Harris was the best player in that game. He scored 22 points, grabbed 5 boards, dished 6 assists and stole 6 balls.
Kumamoto Volters (10-8) are placed third in West group.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
It's Harris' first year with the team.
Harris has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.2ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.7apg, 2.7spg, 2FGP: 55.7%(44-79), 3FGP: 35.9%.
Harris is a naturalized American.
He played for the Lebanese national team in 2019.
Harris used to play for Louaize Zouk in Lebanese league.
#3. The Lebanese player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international center
Ater Majok (208-87, college:
UConn, currently plays in Qatar). He was the major contributor in a 1-point
Al Arabi's victory against the sixth-ranked Al Sadd (0-1)
93-92 in a derby game in the Qatari D1 on Saturday night.
Majok had a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 6 blocks in 45 minutes.
Al Arabi Club Doha (2-0) is placed first in the D1.
Majok has very impressive stats this year: 20.0ppg, 14.0rpg, 4.0apg, 5.0bpg, 2FGP: 54.5% and FT: 71.4% in two games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: South Sudanese and Lebanese.
Ex-Homenetmen Beirut player is also a member of the Lebanese senior national team.
#4. Point guard
Jad Khalil (186-96, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to
Kolubara's victory against the closely-ranked Tamis (6-5)
79-67 in the Serbian KLS in Saturday night's game.
Khalil scored 11 points.
KK Kolubara Lazarevac 2003 (6-5) is placed fifth in the KLS.
It's Khalil's first season with the team.
His overall stats this year are: 6.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.9apg.
Khalil used to play for the Lebanese national team
last year.
