D1 Round 28 (Regular Season): Turan beat Barsy Atyrau by one after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 28 in the D1 took place in Turkestan. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Barsy Atyrau (9-11) to fourth ranked Turan (11-11) 65-64 in the game for the fourth place. Turan forced 34 Barsy Atyrau turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Russian forward Elizaveta Galynina (182-2003) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). The former international forward Ulyana Kudrevtseva (175-1999) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Russian center Maria Aristova (188-2006) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for Barsy Atyrau. Turan maintains fourth position with 11-11 record. Newly promoted Barsy Atyrau keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by Dariya Kovaleva did not help to save the game for Zhetysu. Caspiy Aktau maintains sixth position with 5-15 record. Zhetysu lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Caspiy Aktau looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. The winners were led by Ukrainian forward Vira Cherkaska (184-2002) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 23 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center Anastasiya Ilyasova (185-1998) supported her with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Five Caspiy Aktau players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by swingman Dariya Kovaleva (174-2002) did not help to save the game for Zhetysu.
