Higher League Round 23: Shymkent beat Karaganda in the most crucial game of the week

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Karaganda. First ranked Shymkent faced 4th placed Karaganda. Guests from Shymkent (23-1) defeated host Karaganda (16-8) 78-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Karaganda. Shymkent looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Temirlan Dzhunusov responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. Tigers-KazATU's coach Mikhail Nohai rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Irtysh. They maintain fifth place with 13-11 record. Tigers-KazATU lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Irtysh will meet higher ranked Karaganda (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tigers-KazATU will play against Altay in Oskemen and hope to secure a win.
