Aktobe 2 - Caspiy Aktau 47-55 No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Caspiy Aktau (5-5) beat on the road 11th ranked Aktobe 2 (3-8) 55-47 on Friday. Caspiy Aktau made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Aktobe 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caspiy Aktau made 7 blocks. Point guard Gabiden Korganbaev (178-2003) notched 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Bekzat Burkitbaev (189-2004) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 11 points and 5 rebounds by guard Baynazar Omarov (185-2004) did not help to save the game for Aktobe 2. Forward Nikita Lytyh (196-2004) added 6 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Almaty L. maintains third position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Shymkent. Altay at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Almaty L. will play against Tigers-KazATU (#8) in Astana in the next round where they are favorite. Altay will play at home against ChelSU (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory. They outrebounded ChelSU 52-34 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shymkent looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Shymkent players scored in double figures. Guard Artem Pedko (191-2000) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Maxim Zhukov (173-2001) added 13 points in the effort for ChelSU. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shymkent have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Newly promoted ChelSU dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Shymkent are looking forward to face Barsy 2 (#10) in Atyrau in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ChelSU will play on the road against Altay in Oskemen and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win. Even a double-double of 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) did not help to save the game for Gotobeles.
