Higher League Round 10: Top-ranked Shymkent wins another game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Higher League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Higher League top team - Shymkent (10-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked ChelSU (4-7) in Kostanay 93-60. Shymkent dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to ChelSU's 36. They outrebounded ChelSU 52-34 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shymkent looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) contributed with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Artem Pedko (191-2000) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds for ChelSU. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Shymkent have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Newly promoted ChelSU dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Shymkent are looking forward to face Barsy 2 (#10) in Atyrau in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ChelSU will play on the road against Altay in Oskemen and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Bottom-ranked Altay is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 11th consecutive match to third ranked Almaty L. (8-2) 122-45. Point guard Daniil Severgin (183-2005) scored 9 points and 14 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Daniel Albrant chipped in 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side Russian guard Evgeniy Gorev (193-1982) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Almaty L. maintains third position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Shymkent. Altay at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Almaty L. will play against Tigers-KazATU (#8) in Astana in the next round where they are favorite. Altay will play at home against ChelSU (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Atyrau was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Karaganda (7-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Barsy 2 (3-7). Karaganda managed to secure a 5-point victory 66-61 on Friday. Ivan Shetinkin notched a double-double by scoring 13 points and 21 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by Begzod Mammatrimov did not help to save the game for Barsy 2. Barsy 2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Karaganda maintains fourth position with 7-3 record. Loser Barsy 2 dropped to the tenth place with seven games lost. Karaganda will meet at home league's second-placed Bars in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Barsy 2 will play against the league's leader Shymkent (#1) and hope to secure a win.

Other games in round 10 were not that significant. Caspiy Aktau beat Aktobe 2 on the road 55-47. Gotobeles lost to Tigers-KazATU on its own court 70-79. Irtysh were outscored by Bars in Petropavlovsk 50-81.
The most impressive performance of 10th round was 29 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals by Maksim Nalogov of Bars.

Aktobe 2 - Caspiy Aktau 47-55

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Caspiy Aktau (5-5) beat on the road 11th ranked Aktobe 2 (3-8) 55-47 on Friday. Caspiy Aktau made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Aktobe 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caspiy Aktau made 7 blocks. Point guard Gabiden Korganbaev (178-2003) notched 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Bekzat Burkitbaev (189-2004) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 11 points and 5 rebounds by guard Baynazar Omarov (185-2004) did not help to save the game for Aktobe 2. Forward Nikita Lytyh (196-2004) added 6 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caspiy Aktau have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Aktobe 2 lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. Caspiy Aktau will meet Irtysh (#7) in the next round. Aktobe 2 will play against Gotobeles (#6) and hope to secure a win.

They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Swingman Temirlan Dzhunusov (192-1999) notched 17 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and point guard Dastan Kaldybaev (180-2001) supported him with 15 points and 9 assists. Even a double-double of 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) did not help to save the game for Gotobeles. Point guard Yuriy Popandopulo (175-2002) added 11 points and 10 assists for lost side. Five Tigers-KazATU and four Gotobeles players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tigers-KazATU moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Irtysh. Gotobeles at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the sixth position with six games lost. Tigers-KazATU will meet at home higher ranked Almaty L. Even 12 points and 5 rebounds by guard Nikita Gushchin (192-1991) did not help to save the game for Irtysh. Guard Pavel Bruhovets (174-2001) added 12 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bars have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-1 record behind leader Shymkent. Loser Irtysh dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Tigers-KazATU. Bars will meet Karaganda (#4) on the road in the next round. Irtysh will play against Caspiy Aktau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
