Higher League Round 22: Bars beat Barsy 2 in the most crucial game of the week

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Higher League. Coincidentally all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Atyrau. Second ranked Bars faced 4th ranked Barsy 2. Guests from Petropavlovsk (18-3) defeated host Barsy 2 (13-7) 67-49. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Barsy 2. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Barsy 2's 28. They outrebounded Barsy 2 49-37 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Forward Stanislav Rovovoy (196-1992) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Timur Tangiev (193-2003) produced 10 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bars have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-3 record behind leader Kazygurt, which they share with Qazaqstan. Barsy 2 at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Bars is looking forward to face Irtysh (#6) in Pavlodar in the next round. Barsy 2 will play at home against Jambyl and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 15 assists. Victor Yuldashev contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. point guard Nurlan Zhanibek (175-1999) replied with 27 points and 4 assists for Namys. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kazygurt (19-1) have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Newly promoted Namys dropped to the ninth place with 17 games lost. Kazygurt will play against ChelSU (#8) in Kostanay in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Namys will have a break next round.
The game in Jambyl was also quite interesting. Third ranked Qazaqstan (18-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Jambyl (4-16). Qazaqstan managed to secure a 8-point victory 73-65 on Saturday. Daniil Seleznyov scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Andrey Portnyagin responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Qazaqstan moved-up to second place, which they share with Bars. Jambyl lost tenth consecutive game. Jambyl at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with ChelSU. Qazaqstan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Jambyl will play against Barsy 2 (#4) in Atyrau and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 22 ChelSU defeated Astana-2 in Kostanay 73-65.



Namys - Kazygurt 90-102

Leader Kazygurt delivered the nineteenth victory. This time they beat 8th ranked Namys (4-17) 102-90 in Alma-Ata. They outrebounded Namys 50-26 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kazygurt players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 15 assists. Guard Victor Yuldashev (190-2002) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Astana-2 - ChelSU 65-73

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Astana-2's (2-18) home loss to ninth ranked ChelSU (4-16) 65-73 on Saturday. ChelSU forced 19 Astana-2 turnovers. Guard Adilbek Bitenov (174-2001) scored 33 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Artem Pedko (191-2000) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. ChelSU's coach Elena Kireeva used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side forward Alizhan Ydyryszhan (197-2003) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds and guard Askar Serimbet (181-2006) scored 6 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. ChelSU moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Jambyl. Astana-2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 18 lost games. ChelSU will meet at home league's leader Kazygurt in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Astana-2 will play against Karaganda (#5) and hope to secure a win.

Jambyl - Qazaqstan 65-73

The game in Jambyl was also quite interesting. Third ranked Qazaqstan (18-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Jambyl (4-16). Qazaqstan managed to secure a 8-point victory 73-65 on Saturday. Qazaqstan dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Jambyl's 26. Strangely Jambyl outrebounded Qazaqstan 53-39 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Point guard Daniil Seleznyov (187-1990) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Denis Degtyarev (198-1990) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Qazaqstan players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Andrey Portnyagin (181-1994) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and guard Berik Zulharnai (183-1994) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Qazaqstan moved-up to second place, which they share with Bars. Jambyl lost tenth consecutive game.
