Higher League Round 5: Karaganda is defeated by Qazaqstan

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Karaganda (3-2) and fourth ranked Qazaqstan (4-1) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Karaganda was crushed by Qazaqstan in Alma-Ata 93-69. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Qazaqstan shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Karaganda's players. Point guard Bogdan Ivanichkin (175-0) stepped up and scored 14 points and 7 assists for the winners and the former international forward Denis Degtyarev (198-90) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Qazaqstan's coach Aidana Iskakova felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ilyas Shakir (188-0) responded with 21 points. Qazaqstan have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with SCYSS. Karaganda at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Irtysh and Barsy 2.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Petropavlovsk. Leader host Bars (5-0) defeated bottom-ranked Kazygurt (0-0) 75-60. Guard Artem Kozyrkin (185-98) nailed 18 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Maksim Nalogov accounted for 9 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. Bars' coach Sergei Moor allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-92) came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds for Kazygurt in the defeat. Undefeated Bars have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Kazygurt at the other side still closes the standings with 0 game lost.
Namys has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Jambyl, where they edged Jambyl (2-3) 98-95 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Yevgeniy Kushniruk who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds. Namys' coach Ernar Duanaev used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Andrey Portnyagin produced 32 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals for the hosts. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Namys (1-2) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. Jambyl at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh position with three games lost.

In the last two games of round 5 winless Astana-2 was destroyed by Barsy 2 on the opponent's court 89-41. Irtysh outscored ChelSU in a home game 99-78.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 32 points and 15 rebounds by Dmitriy Luchko of ChelSU.
