BC Astana clinched the D1 title. They overcame Barsy Atyrau in the third game today to sweep the championship series. The victory marked the third consecutive title for BC Astana. Jerry Johnson (182-PG-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Rider) scored 24 points to pace the winners.
Barsy Atyrau eked out a 16:15 lead after the opening quarter. BC Astana however turned things around in the second quarter. They grabbed a 38:31 halftime lead. Barsy increased the tempo in the third quarter. They poured in 24 points but BC Astana maintained a solid grasp on the lead entering the final stanza up by 6 points. The visitors held Barsy to just 9 points in the fourth quarter and triumphed at the end. Janis Blums (191-SG-82) chipped in 11 points, while Branko Cvetkovic (200-F/G-84, agency: Beo Basket) finished with 8 points for the winners. Lukas Brazdauskis (206-F-88) answered with 17 points for Barsy Atyrau. Gytis Sirutavicius (195-F-83) had 13 points in the defeat.

BC Astana celebrate Kazakh Cup title - Mar 5, 2014

BC Astana earned the Kazakh Cup title. They overcame Kapshagay 88:76 for the fourth trophy. Kapshagay jumped to an early lead but BC Astana gradually took over. They finished the game strong and ensured the winning outcome.
Barsy Atyrau clinched the third position in the tournament. They held off Aktau 87:72 in a tough battle in the consolation final.
