They celebrated five wins in as many games during the Cup Final Round in Almaty. BC Astana opened the Final Round with a comfortable 110:69 win over Barsy. Six player scored in double digits as BC Astana cruised to the win. Tobol edge Barsy to clinch Silver medals at Kazakh Cup - Mar 24, 2012
Tobol finished in the second position at the Kazakh Cup. They defeated Barsy Atyrau 84:78 on the final day of the competition to clinch the second place. Barsy finished third at the tournament. BC Astana claimed the trophy as we reported earlier. Tobol and Barsy came up with an exciting performance on the last day. The teams stayed close throughout the first frame as scoreboard read 17:17 after ten minutes. Tobol pulled ahead in the second quarter. The Kostanay team ensured a 42:34 halftime lead. Tobol poured in 27 points in the third term to clear off. They entered the final frame up by 13 points 69:56. Barsy went on a strong comeback rally but came up just short of victory at the end. Pavel Mikheev (200-F-83) stepped up with 29 points and 8 rebounds for Tobol. Vyacheslav Bogdanov (200-F-83) and Anton Kotenko (191-G/F-84) added 17 points each in the victory. Mikhail Evstigneev (202-F/C-84) responded with 22 points for Barsy. Sergei Kazantcev (212-C-84) had 16 points in the loss.
