Astana Tigers defend title - Apr 7, 2009 (by Eurobasket News)
BK Astana Tigers proved their superiority in the Kazakhstan basketball defending their title in the Final series against Tobol. Two top Kazakhstan teams clashed in the best-of-three series and the Tigers posted two victories in a row to celebrate the crown. The first game result was however a pure luck as Tobol dominated throughout the game but the victory just slipped away from their hands late in the encounter. Astana clinched a 63:62 victory.
The second game was a different story as Astana maintained the lead right from the start piling up a 47:28 advantage at halftime. Tobol failed to recover and had to surrender 71:86 at the end.
Almaty claimed the third overall spot as they overwhelmed Barsy Atyrau 2-1 in the Bronze medals series.
