   Tigers taste Gold
Tigers celebrated the win in the Final series over Almaty after fourth game between the teams. After 1-1 in the series Tigers won the third game to take 2-0 lead after 84:76. Raheim Brown (208-F-79, agency: Interperformances, college: Florida Atlantic) showed a good game for the winners, while Zaykin Aleksandr shined in the losing effort. The first quarter ended up at 18:17 and then Tigers increased to 43:40. When the spectators saw 72:59 after the third quarter it became clear that the hosts would not fail in the game.
In the fourth game and as it became clear last, Tigers trailed 19:20 after the opening quarter. They however answered with some good lay-ups for 41:38 at the half time and then spurted to 63:51. Almaty created a 10-0 run and reduced to 73:69. The game heard the last whistle with 76:69 when Justin Bailey (188-G-77, college: Hartford) held the ball until the end of the period. Tigers tasted national Gold and triumphed in the series.
In the series for the third spot Tobol was stronger than TSM Kapshagay in three games. The latter decided to play the games without the foreigners giving more time and opportunities for the junior players. Tobol did not experience with the roster and grabbed the win. The scores of the games are the following: 108:84, 100:65, 100:75.

   Astana Tigers secure Kazakhstan Cup title
The Astana Tigers triumphed in the 2008 Kazakhstan Open Cup. The Tigers overcame Tobol from Kostanay in the final game. Astana secured a tough 94:88 victory and improved on the last seasons result when they lost to Saba Battery in the title decider. Rustam Yargaliyev (195-F-86) topscored for the winners with 24 points. Maxim Voyeikov (195-F-88) contributed 21 points in the winning effort. Pavel Mikheev (198-F-83) answered with 24 points for Tobol. Stanislav Lashko (195-G/F-82) knocked down 16 points in the loss.
BK Almaty grabbed the third spot in the tournament. They defeated Barsy Atyrau 100:93 in the consolation final.
Kaspiy Aktau prevailed in the game for the fifth place. They outscored Bars Petropavlovsk 88:58.
The defending champions Astana Tigers looked too good for the opponents throughout the tournament. They had little problems dealing with Bars Petropavlovsk 101:47 early in the contest. Later the Tigers maintained their tip-top form with a cruising victory over BK Almaty 94:85.
