WJBL Round 13 (Regular Season): Aishin AW beat Denso I. by three after a very close game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most exciting game of round 13 in the WJBL took place in Anjo. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Denso I. (17-9) to seventh ranked Aishin AW (8-18) 55-52 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Aishin AW made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Aishin AW had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sayaka Okamoto (161-1991) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Filipino power forward Jack-Danielle Animam (190-1998) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds for Denso I.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aishin AW maintains seventh place with 8-18 record. Denso I. at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Aishin AW are looking forward to face higher ranked Sunshine R. (#4) in Aichi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Denso I. will play at home against the league's leader Toyota A. having rather not much hope for a victory.
An interesting game for Toyota A. (22-4) which hosted in Nagoya 3rd placed Fujitsu RW (16-10). First ranked Toyota A. managed to get a 5-point victory 69-64. The former international point guard Mai Yamamoto (163-1999) stepped up and scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Shiori Yasuma chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Riho Akagi (167-1998) responded with 14 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Toyota A. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-4 record. Defending champion Fujitsu RW keeps the third position with ten games lost. Toyota A. will play against league's second-placed Denso I. in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fujitsu RW will play on the road against Eneos S. in Kashiwa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota A. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-4 record. Defending champion Fujitsu RW keeps the third position with ten games lost. Toyota A. will meet league's second-placed Denso I. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fujitsu RW will play against Eneos S. in Kashiwa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Chanson V-M was beaten by Sunshine R. on the road 86-79. Aishin AW was destroyed by Denso I. on its own court 48-67. Eneos S. managed to outperform Haneda V. in Kashiwa 83-65. Sunshine R. rolled over Chanson V-M at home 82-63. Eneos S. crushed Haneda V. on the opponent's court 94-50.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 17 points and 10 rebounds by Ashten Prechtel of Eneos S..

Sunshine R. - Chanson V-M 86-79

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Sunshine R. (15-11) beat 6th ranked Chanson V-M (11-15) in Aichi 86-79 on Saturday. Sunshine R. made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sunshine R. made 8 blocks. Nigerian center Jessica Wariebimo (188-2005) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and the former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (183-1993) accounted for 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Minami Shirasaki (166-1996) came up with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international point guard Kuke Haruka (166-1995) added 10 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively for Chanson V-M in the defeat. Four Chanson V-M players scored in double figures. Chanson V-M's coach Masato Ogasawara rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Sunshine R. maintains fourth place with 15-11 record. Loser Chanson V-M keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. Sunshine R. will meet at home Aishin AW (#7) in the next round. Very expected game when 7th ranked Aishin AW (8-18) was smashed by second ranked Denso I. (17-9) in Anjo 67-48 on Saturday. Denso I. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin AW's 30. Filipino power forward Jack-Danielle Animam (190-1998) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Senegalese center Sokhna Sylla (200-1997) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds. Canadian forward Niyah Becker (188-2000, college: Wake Forest) came up with 10 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) added 9 points respectively for Aishin AW in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Denso I. maintains second place with 17-9 record having five points less than leader Toyota A. Aishin AW lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. Denso I. will meet at home league's leader Toyota A. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aishin AW will play against Sunshine R. (#4) in Aichi and hope to secure a win.
