Ehime Orange Vikings (B2 League) signed 35-year-old American center Mitchell Watt for the upcoming season. Watt, who played college basketball at Buffalo and is represented by Octagon Europe, was the second-best scorer for the Toyama Grouses. In 63 B2 League games last season, he put up impressive numbers: 15.3ppg, 7.4rpg, 2.8apg, 1.0spg, and 1.0bpg. Despite finishing second in the regular season, Watt helped his team win the B2 League title. He was recognized with multiple awards, including a spot on the Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese B2 League All-Defensive Team and All-Imports Team, as well as League Player of the Week honors. In the previous season (2023-24), Watt played for Zaragoza in the Spanish Liga Endesa, averaging 12.2ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.1apg, and 1.2bpg in 29 games.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015.
Watt is a very experienced player. He has traveled the world during his pro career, playing in seven different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia, and North America). Watt has played professionally in Germany (ALBA Berlin), Israel (Hapoel Gilboa Galil and Ironi Nes Ziona), Italy (Paperdi Caserta and Umana Venezia), Spain, NBA (GS Warriors), NBA G League (Santa Cruz Warriors), and United Arab Emirates (Shabab Al Ahli).
Among many awards, he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Italian Serie A Honorable Mention back in 2017. He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Orange Vikings.
He graduated from the University of Buffalo in 2012 and it'll be his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
