David Nwaba (ex London L.) joins San-en NeoPhoenix

David Nwaba

San-en NeoPhoenix (B1 League) agreed terms with 31-year old USA-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195cm-99kg-1993, college: Cal Poly) for the new 2024-25 season. He joins another USA player Yante Maten who is already on the roster. Nwaba was the second-best scorer for London Lions in the British BBL league. The team competed in three different competitions that year, and he gained valuable experience playing at various levels. In 10 BBL games, he averaged 13.9ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.8apg, and 1.1spg, helping his team win the league title. Additionally, he played 9 games in the Eurocup, where he put up 14.0ppg, 5.2rpg, 2.2apg, 1.4spg, and 1.0bpg, contributing to his team's semifinal appearance. Nwaba also briefly played for Cruise in the NBA G League.
He has also played professionally in the NBA (Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets) and NBA G League (South Bay Lakers). Nwaba was voted to Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Honorable Mention in 2024.
He is a former Eurobasket Summer League (ESL) player, which is considered the top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.
Nwaba graduated from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo University in 2016 and it will be his ninth season as a professional player. He played for other colleges like Santa Monica College and Hawaii Pacific University.
