Shimane Susanoo Magic (B1 League) signed 31-year-old American 201cm forward Coty Clarke (college: Arkansas, agency: Slash Sports) for the upcoming season. He will be joining fellow American player James McAdoo on the team. Clarke most recently played for San-en NeoPhoenix. In 59 B1 League games in Japan, he averaged an impressive 15.9ppg, 7.4rpg, 4.7apg, and 1.2spg last season, helping his team to win the regular season. He was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese B1 League Second Team, marking a successful year in his career.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Clarke is a very experienced player. He has traveled quite extensively during his pro career, playing in ten different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America). Clarke has played professionally in Israel (Bnei Hertzeliya), Kazakhstan (Astana), Montenegro (Buducnost), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros, Capitanes, and Piratas), Russia (Avtodor and UNICS Kazan), NBA (Boston Celtics), NBA G League (Maine Celtics), Turkey (Bahcesehir), and The Basketball Tournament (Armored Athlete and Friday Beers).
Among many awards, his team won the Montenegrin Cup in 2019. He was also selected to the Eurobasket.com All-VTB League Import Player of the Year back in 2018.
He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2014 and it will be his eleventh (!!!) season in pro basketball. Clarke played also for Lawson State Community College for 2 years.
