Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo (B1 League) signed 27-year old American center Thomas Welsh (213cm-111kg-1996, college: UCLA, agency: Pensack Sports) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Welsh played last season at Pass lab Yamagata Wyverns in the B2 League. In 60 games he had 14.1ppg, 12.9rpg (leader !!!), 1.5apg and 1.4bpg. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week (4 times) and named to Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese B League D2 Second Team.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Kings in Taiwanese PLeague+ where in 24 games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.6ppg, 17.8rpg (#2 in the league), 1.9apg and 1.2bpg in that year. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. 2021-22 was a great season as he was named to Asia-basket.com All-Taiwanese PLeague+ Second Team.
In 2018 he was drafted by Denver Nuggets (NBA) in second round (58th overall). The former University of California at Los Angeles star is in his sixth season in pro basketball.
Welsh represented USA at the World Championships U19 in Heraklion (Greece) eight years ago. Welsh's team won Gold and his stats at that event were 7 games: 2.7ppg, 3.3rpg.
He has played on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Belgium (Oostende), NBA (Charlotte Hornets) and NBA G League (Greensboro Swarm).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he won NBA Northwest Division championship title in 2019. Welsh was voted to Reese's College All-Star Game back in 2018.
