Best players of Japanese B2 League round 19- December 14, 2022
The 32-year old guard had the game-high 27 points adding four rebounds and nine assists for Saga B. in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Fukuoka R. (#6, 8-13) with 40-point margin 81-41. It allowed Saga B. to consolidate first place in the Japanese B2 League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Saga B. has a very solid 16-5 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Garcia had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Saga B., through which he has constantly improved. Garcia has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 18.9ppg), assists (3rd best: 5.7apg) and averages solid 2.6spg and 54.7% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American power forward Brekkott Chapman (206-F/C-1996) of second-ranked Koshigaya A.. Chapman impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Koshigaya A. lost that game 71-90 to slightly higher-ranked Nagasaki (#2, 15-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in East. Koshigaya A. still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 16-5 record is not bad at all. Chapman is a newcomer at Koshigaya A. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was American Matt Bonds (196-F-1995) of second-ranked Nagasaki. Bonds showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, fourteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Nagasaki, leading his team to a 90-71 easy win against #2 ranked Koshigaya A.. Bonds has a great season in Japan. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.3ppg (3rd best), rebounds with 10.4rpg (6th best) and assists with 4.5apg (7th best). He also has 2.3spg and FGP: 58.2%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Trey Porter (208-F-1996) of Nishinomiya S. - 14 points and 15 rebounds 5. Angus Brandt (208-C-1989) of Kagawa FA - 19 points, 18 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Reginald Buckner (206-F/C-1991) of Tokyo Z - 16 points and 13 rebounds 7. Isaac Butts (208-C-1989) of Koshigaya A. - 14 points and 12 rebounds 8. Cheikh Mbodj (208-C-1987) of Bambitious N. - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Rhys Vague (206-F-1996) of Kagawa FA - 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Erik Murphy (208-F/C-1990) of Fukushima - 18 points and 9 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
