After 8 rounds played we can already see who rules in the B1 League and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game of round 8 was a home defeat of 7th ranked Sendai 89ers (3-5) by fifth ranked Shinshu BW (4-4) who outscored them by 15 points 77-62. Shinshu BW made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Sendai 89ers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Sendai 89ers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Yuta Okada (189-1998) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-1995, college: WSU) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Sendai 89ers' coach Hiroki Fujita rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shinshu BW moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Tochigi Brex and Akita NH. Shinshu BW is looking forward to face Yokohama BC (#6) at home in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Alvark Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Eighth-ranked Toyama G. (1-7) gave a tough game to second ranked Gunma CT (6-2). Gunma CT managed to secure only two-point victory 102-100. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by American power forward Justin Keenan (202-1989, college: Ferris St.) who scored that evening 26 points and 8 rebounds and Michael Parker supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 26 points and 23 rebounds by American center Joshua Smith (208-1992, college: Georgetown) did not help to save the game for Toyama G.. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gunma CT have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Toyama G. lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Niigata A.. Gunma CT will play against Akita NH (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Toyama G. will play against the league's leader Hitachi SRT to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in Tochigi between Alvark Tokyo and Tochigi Brex. Third ranked Alvark Tokyo (5-3) got a very close victory on the road over 4th ranked Tochigi Brex (3-5). Alvark Tokyo managed to escape with a 3-point win 60-57 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Ryan Rossiter who scored 8 points and 15 rebounds. Josh Scott produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Tochigi Brex's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alvark Tokyo keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Tochigi Brex dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: Ryukyu GK won against Akita NH on the opponent's court 77-67. Hitachi SRT managed to outperform Shimane SM in a home game 102-95. Ibaraki R. managed to beat Yokohama BC on the road 84-77. Nagoya DD crushed Hokkaido L. on its own court 112-77. Niigata A. was smashed by Kyoto H. in a road game 88-64. Hiroshima D. won against FE Nagoya at home 99-95. Shiga L-Stars was outscored by Chiba Jets on the opponent's court 90-58. Osaka E. recorded a loss to San-en NP in a home game 70-78.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by Kyle Collinsworth of San-en NP.



Akita NH - Ryukyu GK 67-77

Very expected game when 5th ranked Akita NH (3-5) was defeated at home by first ranked Ryukyu GK (7-1) 77-67 on Sunday. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Akita NH 49-29 including a 26-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds. Power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) produced 25 points and 6 assists and center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Ryukyu GK have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Akita NH lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Sendai 89ers and Tochigi Brex. Ryukyu GK will meet league's second-placed Hiroshima D. on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
