Yamagata signs Thomas Welsh, ex Kings

Pass lab Yamagata Wyverns (B2 League) signed 26-year old American center Thomas Welsh (213cm-111kg-1996, college: UCLA, agency: Pensack Sports) for upcoming 2022-23 season. Welsh played last season at Kings in Taiwanese PLeague+. In 24 games he had very impressive stats: 18.6ppg, 17.8rpg (#2 in the league), 1.9apg and 1.2bpg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. 2021-22 was a great season as he was named to Asia-basket.com All-Taiwanese PLeague+ Second Team.
The previous (2020-21) season he played at Filou Oostende in Belgian Pro Basketball League where in 10 games he recorded 10.1ppg and 5.3rpg in that year. Welsh contributed to his team winning the Cup. He also played 6 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 10.3ppg and 6.3rpg in that year.
In 2018 he was drafted by Denver Nuggets (NBA) in second round (58th overall). Welsh graduated from University of California at Los Angeles and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball.
He represented USA at the World Championships U19 in Welshraklion (Greece) seven years ago. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 7 games: 2.7ppg, 3.3rpg.
He has played previously professionally in NBA (Charlotte Hornets) and NBA G League (Greensboro Swarm).
Welsh was voted to Reese's College All-Star Game back in 2018.
