B3 League Round 6: #1 Iwate is defeated by Tokyo EX- February 22, 2021
There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Tokyo EX - Iwate 95-78 The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Iwate (10-2) on the court of seventh ranked Tokyo EX on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Tokyo EX 95-78. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Iwate's 34. They outrebounded Iwate 41-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. Tokyo EX looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Maltese center Samuel Deguara (225-91) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: Southern Miss) chipped in 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: OK State) with 19 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American point guard Ryuji Aoki (183-98, college: Rose-Hulman) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tokyo EX have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 4-3 record. Iwate at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Toyoda Gosei. Tokyo EX are looking forward to face higher ranked Gifu (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Kanazawa's players.
