Ghaz Al-Shamal (1 League) signed 29-year-old American 165cm guard Chelsey Shumpert (college: Union, TN) for the upcoming season. She will join fellow American player Janeen Camp on the team. Shumpert last played for Al Thawra in the Syrian D1 league and had a brief stint with The Address UCC Glanmire in the Irish league during the preseason. She also played for Al Thawra Damascus in the Syrian league.

She is a very experienced player, and thanks to pro basketball, she experienced life in five different countries playing on four different continents. Shumpert is familiar with European, Asian, African, and of course North American leagues. She has played professionally in Iceland (Breidablik), Ireland, the United Kingdom (Wildcats), and Mozambique (Clube Ferroviaro da Maputo). Shumpert won the Syrian League championship title in 2024.
She graduated from Union University in 2018 and it'll be her seventh season in pro basketball. Shumpert played also for University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for 4 years.
