Superleague Round 32: Al Kahraba beat Nift Al-Shamal by three after a very close game

Seventh-ranked Nift Al-Shamal (7-12) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Al Kahraba (12-5) in Kirkuk on Tuesday. The visitors from Baghdad managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected easier game. Al Kahraba held Nift Al-Shamal to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Nift Al-Shamal 55-40 including 40 on the defensive glass. They moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Nift Al-Shamal keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Al-Khtot. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Thulfiqar Hammoodi (196-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and Mohamad Haidar who added 21 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Hussein Rubaye responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al-Hashd have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Shorta. AL-Adhamiya at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Al-Hashd will play against bottom-ranked Al Hilla (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
