IBL Round 18: Hangtuah edge Prawira by one point

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in IBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 18 in the IBL took place in Bandung. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Prawira (17-4) to sixth ranked Hangtuah (11-10) 83-82 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Prawira. The best player for the winners was American LaQuavius Cotton (198-1992, college: Delta St.) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds. The former international point guard Kelly Purwanto (178-1983) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Taj Spencer (200-1993, college: CBU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. Prawira's coach Andre Yuwadi tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Hangtuah moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Rans Pik. Prawira at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Hangtuah's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jakarta NSH.
Important game to mention about took place in . Sixth ranked Rans Pik (11-10) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Bali Utd. (8-13) 70-68 in the game for the fifth place. It was a good game for point guard Januar Kuntara (171-1991) who led his team to a victory with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Hal Heyward contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kendal Yancy (191-1994, college: Texas) replied with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for Bali Utd.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rans Pik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hangtuah. Bali Utd. at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Indonesia P.. Rans Pik will play against higher ranked Dewa United (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bali Utd. will play against Evos Bogor and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Dewa United managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Sunday evening. David Seagers had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Dewa United's coach Andika Saputra used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Anton Waters with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Dewa United moved-up to second place, which they share with WBS. Loser Hangtuah dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Rans Pik. Dewa United will meet at home league's leader Pelita Jaya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hangtuah's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jakarta NSH.

Rest of the games of round 18 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
WBS defeated Satya Wacana in Jakarta 83-66. Evos Bogor was beaten by Prawira at home 46-59. Pelita Jaya won against NSH on the opponent's court 76-62. Pacific Caesar lost to defending champion Satria Muda in a home game 64-81. Bima Perkasa recorded a loss to Indonesia P. on the road 54-70. Bumi Borneo was defeated by Tangerang on its own court 54-61.
The best stats of 18th round was 16 points and 6 rebounds by Richard Ross of Tangerang.



Satya Wacana - WBS 66-83

There was no surprise in Salatiga where 6th ranked Satya Wacana (5-15) was defeated by second ranked WBS (12-8) 83-66 on Sunday. WBS made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Satya Wacana turnovers. American guard Sameen Swint (193, college: GBC) scored 26 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and guard Rio Disi (185-1992) chipped in 10 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Joshua Davenport (196-1994, college: Winthrop) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and guard Alexander Franklyn (180) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. WBS have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-8 record having eight points less than leader Satria Muda, which they share with Dewa United. Satya Wacana lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with 15 games lost. WBS will meet at home Pacific Caesar (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Satya Wacana will play against Bumi Borneo (#4) and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Prawira (17-4) defeated on the road 8th ranked Evos Bogor (4-17) 59-46 on Sunday. The former international point guard Abraham Grahita (180-1995) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American center Taj Spencer (200-1993, college: CBU) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Ivorian Karamoko Cisse (203, college: Rider) with 9 points and 9 rebounds and Daniel Wenas (190-1992) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Evos Bogor's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Prawira have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-4 record having just two points less than leader Satria Muda. Loser Evos Bogor keeps the eighth place with 17 games lost. Prawira will meet NSH (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Evos Bogor will play against Bali Utd. (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Pelita Jaya dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to NSH's 28. They outrebounded NSH 45-25 including a 36-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pelita Jaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Dior Lowhorn (201-1987, college: USF) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Reggie Mononimbar (185-1995) chipped in 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Shavar Newkirk (183-1996, college: St.Joseph's) with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and center Ruslan Ruslan (197-1989) scored 9 points. Foster is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American Tyron Criswell (193, college: Nevada) with 11 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import Akeem Ellis (196-1990, college: Coppin St., agency: BIG) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Ngurah Wisnu Budidharma (180) with 8 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) scored 10 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tangerang moved-up to sixth place. Loser Bumi Borneo keeps the third position with 12 games lost. They share it with Pacific Caesar. Tangerang will meet at home league's leader Satria Muda in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
