3rd East Asian Championship set to start on May 16

The 3rd East Asian Championship is slated to tip off on May 16. Seven teams will start the tournament in Incheon, South Korea. They have been divided into two preliminary pools. Best two teams from each group will advance into the semifinal stage. The teams that finish third in each pool will fight for the fifth overall position. Top five teams of the tournament will earn the qualification to the 27th Fiba Asia Championship to be held in Manila in August.

Group A: Japan, Taiwan, Macau and South Korea
Group B: China, Hong Kong and Mongolia.
